HEADS OF THE VALLEY SPRING CLEAN 2008
Groundwork Caerphilly in partnership with The Hub and the USV partnership held a USV Spring clean between 21st -25th April. The USV partnership gained funding from Keep Wales Tidy to buy litter picking equipment which could be used by the local community.
Litter picks took place at Hollybush, Manmoel, Argoed, Markham and the Rock throughout the week where over 50 local residents, local groups, young people and the Youth Offending Service turned out to clean up the local area. The youngest participant was 5 years old and the oldest being in her eighties. It was a true community effort with over 50 bags of litter being collected over the week.
In addition to the litter picks an educational workshop was held at Markham Primary School where pupils learnt about the effects of litter and how litter can be recycled. Also the school pupils improved their schoolyard with the help of Markham Resource Centre.
Congratulations to all that took part.
