The Tigers are back with a new under 15 squad made up of local players from Markham, Argoed and the surrounding area. Most of the boys are school mates at Pontllanfraith Comprehensive and also play for the school team.

Team Manager John Mullen explained it was great to once again have local Junior players who will hopefully progress into Youth & Senior players. They will have a lot to live up as previous Academy players who started at Under 8 are now playing for the Senior team who last season won the GDRU Cyrus Davies Cup for the third time in the last four years a marvellous achievement. Forwards coach Simon Morgan, who is also an Academy old boy has been delighted with the turn out at training sessions and the effort the boys are putting into the team. Squad training is 6.00pm every Tuesday & Thursday evening at King Georges Field Markham. Any players who would like to join the Tigers are more than welcome to come along.

There is also Tigers Under 8 training every Friday evening at 6.00pm at Markham Sports Centre. It is hoped that they will soon be playing non contact “Tag Rugby” matches very soon. All new players are welcome to come along and join in the fun.
