Communities First is the flagship Welsh Assembly Government
programme aimed at cutting poverty and helping to improve the
lives of people wholive in the most deprived areas of Wales.
The National Assembly hasidentified 100 of the most deprived
wards throughout Wales. The Communities First Programme
will ensure that the money and support available from the
Assembly is directed at the most disadvantaged communities.

The Upper Sirhowy Valley Communities First Partnership is an
independant organisation covering,The Argoed ward, Hollybush,
Manmoel and Marham. It was intitially formed in 2001 as the
Sirhowy Task and Finish Group. The Partnershiphas progressed remarkably from its initial days: attracting funding; supporting secure funding; initiate projects; scrutinise developments locally.
